Year-by-year balance
How the calculation works

Spending at retirement. Your spending today is multiplied by the share you expect to need, then raised by inflation for every year until you retire. After you retire it keeps rising with inflation each year. Any pension or other income you enter is subtracted.

Money needed. We list the net amount you would withdraw every month from the day you retire until the age you plan for. Each monthly amount is brought back to your retirement day at the return you expect after retirement, and the total is the money needed. Withdrawals are taken at the start of each month.

What you will have. Your savings so far grow at the return you expect before retirement. The gap is the money needed minus this amount.

Monthly saving needed. The first-year monthly amount that, raised by your yearly step-up and invested at the start of each month, grows to exactly the gap by your retirement day. Yearly returns are converted to equivalent monthly returns, so 10% a year means 10% after twelve months.

Will it last? If you enter your own monthly saving, we grow it the same way and then take out your monthly spending until the money runs out or your plan age arrives.
